1922 Dampfmaschine WOLF

In 1922 in Magdeburg-BUCKAU (BRD) a stationary steam engine was delivered by Fa. Wolf for wood working at the sawmill Maresch in Weizelsdorf. Till 1993, that is more than 70 years this machine was exploited full-blast.
The steam boiler operated with the use of wood waste of this company. The steam was designated for the drive of the 60 hp steam engine which fed the reciprocating saw, buzz saws and planes. The generator was also connected to it which supplied electric power to lighting systems. And, finally, the off-heat was used for wood drying.
When the enterprise was closed, the steam engine was taken out of operation and Dr. KYRLE as the owner of Maresch sawmill offered it to the museum Historama. The evacuation of the steam engine through the hole in the roof of the machine building was one of the most complicated technical and logistics task. The 24-ton machine was disassembled into modules and then assembles very carefully in Historama.
