VW Typ 3 was offered in 1961 as a sedan and a station wagon (Variant).
The sport variant hatchback was made in 1965.
Only the model Variant was produced in considerable volumes.
This sedan was equipped with a back wheel drive engine of 1,583 cm3 capacity, located under the floor. The power of the engine with two carburetors amounted to 54 hp (39 kW).
It is remarkable that this automobile had two luggage boots fore and aft, though of small sizes.
