1964 Volkswagen T1 Bus Samba + Hymer Eriba Puck

This is a couple where everything is complete and authentic. The bus is unified with the arch-celebrated Beetle and in common with it the bus has got a rear- engine layout and an opposed engine. The camper as well as the bus was produced in Germany. The firm of the Hymer family had got into camper business since 1957 and in 1958 it was already producing three models. The model of 1971 with a fiberglass body is presented here.

The first generation of the Transporter was launched in 1950. The Transporter derived the transmission from the Transporter VW Beetle. But compared to the Beetle the T1 used an integral body instead of the central tunnel frame, and the multiple-link frame served as its bearing part. The first Т1 could carry the cargo with the weight not more than 860 kg, however the automobiles produced since 1954 could take “aboard” already 70 kilograms more. The first 4-cylinder engines with a rear-wheel drive came into the T1 from the Beetle and they had 25 hp capacity. Later more modern engines were mounted on it with the output from 30 up to 44 hp.

The car’s design was distinguished by an enormous logotype VW and a split windshield. The door windows of the driver and the passenger were sliding.
