1973 Opel Kadett B

Opel Kadett B 1973 Germany

de.wikipedia.org
Kadett B from Opel was the second model in the car line produced by Kadett / Astra. According to the today’s vehicle classification it belongs to the automobiles of the compact-class, when it appeared it belonged tom the middle class.
Kadett B was created in September of 1965 as a successor of the Kadett and introduced in July 1973 together with the Olympia. More than 2.7 millions cars were built. Thus it became one of the most successful Opel models. The basic structure (a chassis/an engine/a transmission) of that car was taken by the sportcar Opel GT. The Kadett B LS became the base for the luxury branch Olympia .
In comparison with the Kadett the capacity of the engine was increased up to 1.1-литра, which was offered in the base version of the new model of 33 kW (45 hp) (5 hp more). The body was 10 cm wider and 18 cm longer, and the wheelbase was 91 mm enlarged up to 2,416 mm. For the first time a sedan was available in four-door version and a coupe was available with ventilation holes behind back side windows (“the Coupe’s gills" were till July 1970). The three-door station wagon (Opel traditionally calls it a caravan) finishes the offer. The electric system worked now from 12 volts.
