Mercedes-Benz W110 «Fintail» (нем. Kleine Heckflosse) was Mercedes-Benz's line of E-class. The model replaced Mercedes-Benz W120, which was already obsolete in those days. The W110 190 production began in April, 1961 and lasted till 1968, when the model W110 230 was introduced. The name “fintail” was got due to the car’s form.
The 190C appeared in April, 1961. There were two engines available in 1961: a petrol 80 hp of the 1,897 cc and a diesel 1,988 cc with the power of 55hp. The models were famous as 190Dc and 190C, which got their designation from the name of the two previous models, known as the 190B and 190Db.
The brake system consisted of 4 drum brake gears with a hydraulic drive, and the gearbox was 4-speed. The both axles had springs and hydraulic shck absorbers.
Since 1962 an automatic gearbox was offered, and in 1963 the configuration of the braking system was substantially changed. It became dual hydraulic brake system and of mixed type, meaning disks at the front and drums at the rear.
In 1968 the W110 gave place to more modern body W114/W115
