1959 Mercedes-Benz LP 333

The LP 333 was popularly referred to as the millipede because of its two steered front axles. Mercedes-Benz introduced the new design in 1958 when the Federal German government imposed legal restrictions on the dimensions, axle loads and payloads of trucks to protect the railways from competition. The additional axle permitted a higher payload and enhanced the economic efficiency of the vehicle.
