VAZ-1111E is a Russian experimental low volume model of an electric vehicle, created on the base of the midget car Ока. The electric car was developed in 1992, two years later the range of 20 cars was built at the Pilot production of AvtoVAZ (Volzhsky Avtomobilny Zavod – plant).

The feed source was nickel cadmium accumulator batteries NKP-120, assembled in three separate packs. One pack was located under the bonnet, the second one was under the rear seat (instead of a petrol tank) and the third pack was in the baggage compartment, where a spare wheel was displaced. To lengthen the mileage the voltage was raised up to 132 V. The general weight of the batteries amounted to 315 kg therefore stronger springs were set in the suspension.

The driving distance is equal to 110 km at the speed of 40 km/h and the recharge time is 8 hours (from a common white socket 220 V). The high cost of the batteries which made up 70 % of the whole car’s price as well as a number of disadvantages just typical for electric automobiles did not permit to put the model on the conveyor unit.

The Oka –electro consistently took part in international competitions — rally of electro-mobiles in which it placed high time and again.
