As for the design elements, DT-20 tractor is very similar to HTZ-7 and DT-14 models. DT-20 features a great versatility, mainly due to a possibility of various operational rearrangements. The tractor can operate both running forward and on the back run. The driver's workplace is re-adjustable too, and the tractor, when operating on the reverse run, can be efficiently used when equipped with a front mower, reaper, pickup (drag) and some other devices.

A high clearance and the necessary wheelspan are supposed to be set in row crop spacing. For garden and field applications the final drives are supposed to be turned 90 degree forward (to reduce a wheelbase, which improves a maneuverability of the tractor but impairs its longitudinal stability) or rearward (to reduce a wheelbase, which enhances longitudinal stability of the tractor and enables its operating with heavier attached implements. In this case, the tractor clearance is reduced. The front wheelspan and the rear one can be adjusted within wide limits, which makes it possible to cultivate row crop spacing of any size.
