The first prototype -5000 GT- produced for the Scia of Persia in 1959 is characterised by the engine idea of Maserati 450 S useful for competitions. The chassis is made by the producer “Touring” in Milano (northern Italy). After producing the first prototypes of this car, a new engine has been designed in order to be used not only in competitions but also in ordinary life. The main feature of this engine is the innovative power plant in indirect injection. The first frames were provided to customers who brought them to their trusted chassis producers in order to have the desired car. The model presented is the prototype version “Allemanno chassis producer in Torino” -designed by the Italian and automotive designer Giovanni Michelotti- and it has been introduced by Maserati company in its product range. It was sold for U.S. $ 12,000 to a wealthy American David Brown and it is different from the standard model produced due to the unusual design of the front grille, mainly.
