Replacing a hugely successful model like the 3500 GT turned out to be a hard task. 1963 saw the brave decision to present two contrasting models simultaneously at the Turin Auto Show: the Quattroporte and the 2-seater Berlinetta (later nicknamed “Mistral"). The Quattroporte was the "fastest sedan in the world” and was used by heads of state, businessmen, actors and sportsmen. With the model variations that came out in the following years, it became the mainstay of the Maserati range. The first owner of the model on display here was Marcello Mastroianni.
