Giorgetto Giugiaro has been crowned "the most influential car designer of the last century”. He designed some hugely successful models for Maserati: the Ghibli, the Bora and the Merak, the “Pertini” Quattroporte, and the 3200GT. For the mechanics of the Bora, Giugiaro presented the "Boomerang" concept at the Turin Auto Show in 1971, causing a sensation amongst the public and critics. One journalist wrote that “it's like travelling at 100km an hour, while standing still". The toy models of this futuristic car, in various scales, have provided fun for millions of children the world over.
