In the Motor Show in Torino in 1963, Maserati presented the new 2-seater berlinetta designed by Pietro Frua. From this version, characterized by the tailgate and the air intake below the bumper,
the convertible version was made and presented at the Geneva Motor Show in 1964. Initially the vehicle was available with 3500 and 3700 engines. The range was expanded in 1966 with 4 liters engine. The car was produced in just 120 prototypes and it is the main character of the movie "Bobo" with Britt Eklund and Peter Sellers.
