Light for night work Steam-operated lighting dynamo 1892 Construction and repair work often has to be done during the night to avoid interrupting railway traffic. Good lighting is thus needed. The Oerlikon Engineering Works built this steam-driven lighting dynamo, which was towed to its operating site by horses. The boiler produces steam for the engine driving the generator.
