An Austrian solution for the Hauenstein Railway Steam locomotive Ec 2/5 No 28 Gent Swiss Central Railway SCB 1858 Gent is the oldest original locomotive in Switzerland. The rear half of the locomotive is supported by the bogie under the tender, while the coupled wheels are fixed rigidly in the frames. This makes it possible to have a large boiler capable of producing ample quantities of steam. The Kessler engineering works in Esslingen near Stuttgart built similar tank locomotives for Switzerland.
