Very hard ramps going from the sea level to inhospitable spots 1218 metres high characterize the Ferrocarril Central de Aragon, one of the highest railways in Spain. In such conditions the specialization of its machines was obliged. This is one of the most peculiar: an articulated locomotive 'Mallet' for the pulling of heavy goods trains. It is the first rolling stock of Swiss origin in Spain. Its hinge allows increasing power and weight, making the negotiation of curves possible. This compound-kind locomotive -something unusual for a goods machine- has a front motor set with the axles and cylinders joined by means of a hinge to the rear motor set, with its own cylinders and axles. They were used on the Ferrocarril Central de Aragon lines. Valencia-Calatayud and, since its incorporation in RENFE until its retirement at the end of the 60s, from Valencia to Utiel and to the south down to Alicante.
