The Volga Siber is a Russian passenger medium car with a sedan body (segment D).
It was introduced by Russian company “Group GAZ” at the Fair “Interauto-2007” in Moscow on the 29 of August 2007 as the GAZ Siber. Further the trade name of the model was changed for the Volga Siber.
The sedan was created on the license of the front wheel drive bed Chrysler JR41, Chrysler Sebring and Dodge Stratus of the second generation; the cars entered the production in 2001. The design was developed by famous English studio UltraMotive, however the purpose was to use at maximum existing American results and impart the features of classic passenger cars from Nizhny Novgorod to Russian version of the car.
The Volga Siber differs from American car-donors in exterior by bumpers, a radiator grille design and lighting engineering. The car is adapted for exploitation in the conditions of Russia, particularly, the suspension ruggedness is raised and the clearance is increased, the drive is improved and the hardware with metric, not inch thread is used. A small clearance, which is 140 mm, occurs to be one of the apparent defects in the construction in Russian conditions.
