With the aim of homologation there were produced 50 units of Carrera 6 in 1966.
Mostly during the first years this car was used in mountain and closed-circuit races
(for example Le Mans).
This Porsche 906 is the only preserved model of Carrera 6 in Austria.
906 Carrera 6 is the first “thoroughbred” racing car from Porsche. It is a successor of 904, which runs perfect at different applications and especially successful with a light tubular space frame in two-liter class of sports cars. In 1966 Willy Mairesse and Herbert Müller celebrated the victory in overall standings at the 50th Targa Florio. Carrera 6 established important tendencies for many successful racing cars Porsche.
