1971 Gato Montes 2 CV

In 1971, at the auto show in Barcelona Spanish company Artes de Arcos showed an unusual amphibian 6x6, which was named Gato Montes. To reduce the cost and simplify the construction the engine was installed on the terrain vehicle from the Citroen 2CV along with a clutch and a gearbox. The gearbox had 2 shafts, one on each side, which rotated all 6 wheels of the amphibian through the chain transfer. The engine was mounted directly in a tiny body, which was made of plastic. Low-pressure tires were used on the vehicle- they were inflated to the pressure just 0.250 kg / cm2. The driving Gato Montes was extremely simple – there were only 2 levers in front of the driver.

In 1971 this amphibian cost 110,000 pesetas (about 660 euros).
